I love my PMDG 737. I’ve been flying it for over a year, and feel I have a good command of it. I’m by no means an expert, but I can get from point A to point B without killing everyone on board.

After my computer problems were resolved, I fired up FS9 and made a familiar flight in my favorite PMDG. I had done everything correctly, but my plane wasn’t following the flight path as set on the FMC. In fact, it was crabbing at a 45 degree angle for the entire duration of the trip. I ended up flying the approach manually, restarted my computer, and tried again. Same problem.

I’m not sure what started this issue, but an hours worth of searching the internet lead me to the Flight1 Registry Repair Tool, located here. As of this writing, it’s the fourth option on the page.

I ran the tool WHILE FLYING in the PMDG and the problem was solved instantly.

Weird problem. Fast fix.

After I installed a new 1GB video card, I started getting the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Normally, this is attributed to a hardware issue. Running MEMCHECK (a free download) and the memory diagnostic tool in Windows (access by F8 on splash screen), I discovered that I had one of two problems: bad memory, or a bad motherboard. Obviously, I hoped for the former.

My computer came with 3GB of RAM (2x1GB, 2x512MB), upgradable to 4GB. I purchased two 1GB sticks, hoping the problem was one of the 512MB sticks. Lucky for me, that seemed to fix the problem. Since I have a new video card and more memory, let’s replace this 10 year old monitor. 21″monitors are $200. 24″ TV’s are $150. Heck yes… 24″ TV with HDMI…. Let’s go!

HOORAY! A new 1GB video card, 4 GB of memory, and a brand new purchase of FSX. Let’s get this thing going!

Wait… FSX is sluggish.

Much to my flight sim demise, FSX is a processing guzzler. My 2.4GHZ Quad-Core still seems too slow for FSX. I got it running, but at 7 FPS, it just isn’t what I was hoping for.

So, I’m back to FS9. It does the job, and I always like flying my PMDG 737-600. The radar client will work a little more efficient now, so that’s always a plus.

I’m back to where I started, but things are stable, and I can move up the sliders on my display settings. Don’t worry folks. I’ll see you in the skies soon… Once I figure out how to remove the jaggies in FS9.

I’m back!

It’s been a few weeks, but let’s get back in the skies! I’ll be controlling KCRP and hope to have a ton of traffic to get confused with. LET’S PLAY!

Ik ben terug!

Het is al een paar weken, maar laten we terug in de lucht! Ik zal het regelen KCRP en hopen een ton van het verkeer naar de war raken met.

All,

My video card had given out. Until I can get a replacement, I will be stuck using the on-board video and won’t be able to fly or control. I’ll still be on Teamspeak, but will be grounded for a while.

Harry, Don, and myself took a group of DC6’s from Dallas-Love (KDAL) to Waco (KACT). It was certainly fun, and for some reason my plane’s panel was not working. I literally followed Don to the airport. I quickly learned that overloading this plane makes for a very tough take off (if you can take off at all). Great fun, good airplane, and I hope to do it again… without stalling.

Howdy all,

I will, again, be open on February 8 for KSJC Approach. This week, Ben will be controlling KPHX and we’re trying to get Harry to control CENTER for us! That’s right… three controllers! WOO HOO! See ya in the skies!
